Play Therapy Background
Play Therapy is a child-centred, non-directive therapy approach that uses play to help children and teenagers make sense of feelings and experiences that may be too difficult to express in words. Through play, they can communicate in a way that feels natural and safe and allows them to experiment, express and explore their experiences in a way that often speaks more clearly than words ever could.
During sessions, play brings the child's inner unconscious experiences to the surface in a way that makes overwhelming feelings feel more manageable, and over time, they build emotional resilience, strengthen relationships and develop healthier ways of coping. Play therapy is a place where big feelings can be held safely, understood gradually and transformed into something more tolerable.
