Claire Brown, BA (Hons) Psychology, MSc Play Therapy, BAPT Reg®.
With over a decade of experience supporting children, young people and families, I founded Silent Stories to provide a safe therapeutic space where unspoken feelings can be gently understood. As a BAPT (British Association of Play Therapists) trained and registered Play Therapist®, my work blends clinical knowledge with deep respect for the inner world of the child and teenager in need of help.
I have a strong foundation of experience supporting children and adolescents navigating trauma, loss, uncertainty, disrupted relationships, developmental challenges, emotional overwhelm and many more difficulties. My approach is professional, relational, evidence-informed and grounded in the belief that healing grows from safety, attunement and genuine connection.
Silent Stories is a place where experiences that feel too big, too confusing or too painful can be explored through play. It reflects my commitment to helping children, teenagers and families move from uncertainty to understanding, from chaos to connection and from silence to communication, always at a pace that feels safe and respectful for all involved.
My Story
After completing my BA (Hons) in Psychology, I undertook the Cosca Counselling Course followed by a further 3 years of training and clinical placement in the MSc in Play Therapy programme accredited by the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT). I am a BAPT-trained, qualified and registered Play Therapist® with several years of practical experience supporting children and teenagers to make sense of difficult feelings through play and helping them move from confusion to understanding. I have also completed training in Filial Therapy, supporting parent-child relationships.
Silent Stories grew from my belief that every child holds experiences that deserve to be understood, even if they cannot put them into words. Therapeutic work often unfolds in spaces where emotions sit beneath the surface, where expression can feel risky and where trust may have been shaken. In these moments, silence and stillness are not absence; it is communication waiting to be met with care by the right person. At Silent Stories, both silence and words are heard and accepted, and from that place, meaningful change can unfold.
I am committed to working professionally, ethically and in alignment with the values of empathy, congruence and non-judgement. I believe that every child and teenager deserves a therapeutic space where they can be understood at their own pace, where their inner world is met with curiosity, respect and compassion. As each child leads their own way through their own therapeutic journey, they make sense of what may be unspoken, make sense of what has been held inside and discover new possibilities for growth, resilience and connection.
